The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), which is under the College of Engineering, aspires to be a leading school for Sustainable Urban Systems. Currently, it has over 50 faculty members and more than 1,500 students, and is rapidly expanding its range of educational and research activities. Its faculty has led major university-wide strategic research thrusts in space creation, water engineering and sustainable built environment. Going forward, CEE is addressing the continuous improvement in urban infrastructure such as building structures and energy systems, sustainability of urban cities, and resiliency to natural and unnatural risks.

 

To fuel further development, we invite applications for Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track) position in the areas of Coastal Protection Engineering.

 

Applicants would need to have an earned PhD degree in in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely-related discipline, and have strong interdisciplinary expertise in the domains of coastal science/engineering, environmental fluid mechanics, or hydraulic engineering. Previous strong academic credentials post PhD in these areas will be highly preferred. Candidates should also demonstrate strong and relevant teaching ability and have excellent communication skills. In addition, candidates with experience in the industry as well as qualifications to become a professional engineer in Singapore will have an advantage.

Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) is a University Research Institute in Nanyang Technological University Singapore that conducts fundamental research on earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, and climate change in and around Southeast Asia, towards safer and more sustainable societies. EOS maintains a regional network of geophysical observation stations in collaboration with neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia, that are supported by the EOS Centre for Geohazard Observations, as well as a Remote Sensing Lab (EOS-RS). Computational resources are available through a dedicated cluster and collaboration with the High-Performance Computing Centre of NTU.
