Research Scientist II
Summary of Position
Under the supervision of the Project Director, conduct research in magnetospheric physics and space weather using data from NASA’s Magnetospheric Multi-Scale (MMS) mission and upcoming SWFO-L1 space weather mission. This includes data analysis and coordination of efforts with the science community, the preparation of publications and presentations.

Other minimum qualifications
Ph.D. in Physics with specialization in Magnetospheric or affiliated space physics field. Proficiency in the use of data processing and visualization tools including IDL, MatLab, and/or Python.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience with hardware and calibration of space science instrumentation is highly desirable.

Analyze data from the MMS FIELDS instrument suite, which includes EDI, SCM, FGM, and EDP.
Work collaboratively with other scientists and support the research efforts of graduate students to study ion-and electron-scale features of magnetic reconnection, turbulence, and other phenomena in the magnetosphere, magnetosheath, and solar wind using MMS data.
Submit Particle in Cell (PIC) simulation requests and analyze results to support in-situ observations.
Prepare, present, and publish scientific publications.
