The Department of Environmental Systems Science (www.usys.ethz.ch) at ETH Zurich invites applications for the above-mentioned position.
The ideal candidates will have an outstanding publication record, commensurate with their academic age, in social and interdisciplinary research that addresses fundamental scientific questions and contributes to policy- and decision-making. While the position is open to candidates focusing on a wide range of environmental and natural resource governance challenges, we have a particular interest in those whose focus lies with land-use change and terrestrial resource allocation, biodiversity protection, water allocation and quality, or environmental issues associated with natural resources extraction and use, as well as the interrelations between these issues. The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate level courses (German or English) and graduate level courses (English). Teaching will contribute to the social sciences curriculum in Environmental Sciences, with an emphasis on analyzing the drivers and outcomes of public policies.
Assistant professorships have been established to promote the careers of younger scientists. ETH Zurich implements a tenure track system equivalent to that of other top international universities.
ETH Zurich is an equal opportunity and family-friendly employer, values diversity, and is responsive to the needs of dual-career couples.
