ROSENSTIEL AWARD
The Department of Marine Geosciences at the University of Miami seeks nominations for the Rosenstiel Award. This award was created by the Rosenstiel Foundation to recognize outstanding contributions to marine science including oceanographically relevant aspects of atmospheric science, and fundamental developments in ocean engineering. It is given annually by the Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science at the University
of Miami to honor a scientist in the formative years of their careers. In order to accommodate the various disciplines on which ocean science is based, the award is presented on a rotating basis for achievements in six broad disciplinary areas: meteorology and physical oceanography; marine geology and geophysics, marine and atmospheric chemistry; marine biology and fisheries; applied marine physics and marine affairs and policy. This year the award will be made in the area of Marine Geosciences. The general areas of interest include paleoceanography, sedimentology, geophysics, geodesy, and geochemistry. Further information on the Department can be found at our website https://marine-geosciences.earth.miami.edu/. Please forward your nominations by October 1, 2023, to Sam Purkis (spurkis@earth.miami.edu) or Dr. Guoqing Lin (glin@earth.miami.edu) at the University of Miami, 4600 Rickenbacker Causeway, Miami, 33149.
