The Department of Atmospheric Sciences in the College of Arts & Sciences at Texas A&M University invites applications for two full-time tenure-track assistant professor positions in the areas of (i) weather and climate risk, climate impacts, or geoengineering, (ii) applications of machine learning or artificial intelligence in weather and climate, or (iii) atmospheric turbulence, boundary layer meteorology, or urban meteorology, including high-resolution observations, modeling, or downscaling. This position is expected to begin in Fall 2024.
Information about the Department of Atmospheric Sciences can be found at: https://atmo.tamu.edu/. Our department is made up of 22 faculty members, 147 undergraduate and 52 graduate students. Our department is also affiliated with the Office of the State Climatologist, the Center for Atmospheric Chemistry and the Environment, the Texas Center for Climate Studies, and the Southern Regional Climate Center.
Teaching and research facilities in the department include two undergraduate computer laboratories, the Aggie Doppler Radar (ADRAD), a micropulse lidar, the Houston Lightning Mapping Array, the Weather Center, automated surface weather stations, and radiosonde systems. The department is part of the College of Arts and Sciences, which offers an array of degree programs and educational facilities. Additionally, the Texas A&M High Performance Research Computing Center maintains several supercomputing clusters that are easily accessible for faculty and student use.
