The Department of Marine, Earth, and Atmospheric Sciences (MEAS) at North Carolina State University (NC State) invites applications for the position of Department Head. The appointment will be at the level of tenured full professor.  

We seek an ambitious and innovative leader with a creative, sustainable vision for a multidisciplinary geoscience department at a large land-grant university that has a broad campus-wide environment of exciting environmental research and teaching.

Potential candidates must have a Ph.D. in a field represented in MEAS or a very closely related field. Potential candidates should also have strong organizational and leadership skills, graduate and undergraduate education, a broad understanding of geosciences (marine, earth, and/or atmospheric), and exceptional professional academic achievements.  Prior successful administrative or programmatic leadership experience is desirable.

The successful applicant will be an advocate for the research and teaching missions of the department, will work to grow productive collaborations with groups both on campus and off, and will focus on achieving department goals with outstanding quality.

Located in the College of Sciences at NC State, MEAS is one of the largest multidisciplinary geoscience departments in the nation. MEAS is one of six NC State departments with a presence at the NC State Center for Marine Sciences and Technology (CMAST), a coastal and marine science research facility located on Bogue Sound in Morehead City, NC (http://www.cmast.ncsu.edu)and the NC State Climate Office (https://climate.ncsu.edu/). MEAS faculty also participate in the recently established Center for Geospatial Analytics (http://geospatial.ncsu.edu).
