Graduate Student Research Assistantship at the Department of Forestry Fire and Rangeland Management California Polytechnic University Humboldt. Selected applicant would be accepted into the Masters of Natural Resource Sciences degree to pursue a M.S. degree with the Forest, Fire, Watershed and Range Science option. $15,000 per year would be provided per year to cover living expenses for two years. Tuition is not included but many students in our program receive the California State University Grant for California residents. The applicant would conduct research on a project funded by the USDA McIntire Stennis program. The project seeks to monitor seasonal soil moisture drawdown and stream flow recession using field measurements and satellite measurements, with the goal of quantifying watershed scale water storage and vulnerability to drought and climate change. Familiarity with GIS and field experience preferred. A relevant undergraduate degree and a GPA of 3.0 is generally required for acceptance into the program.
