The Department of Chemistry offers assistantships for students pursuing a Ph.D. in Environmental Chemistry.
We provide research opportunities spanning wide ranges: from field work to laboratory work to computer modeling, and from local ecosystems to global biogeochemical cycles. You can study molecules, microbes, and whole organisms.
Research topics include:
- Climate change
- Global carbon and nitrogen cycles
- Drivers of regional air quality
- Marine biota as ecosystem engineers
- Ocean acidification
- Coral reefs, harmful algal blooms, heavy metal contamination
- PFAS/PFOS
