Assistant Professor (Geoscience Communication)

The Department of Geology at Wichita State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in geoscience communication beginning August 2024.  In particular, we seek a candidate with demonstrated research in communication of geoscience topics to the general public. This may include, but certainly not limited to climate change, resource extraction vs environmental impacts, induced seismicity, and approaches to teaching science.

In addition to developing an externally funded research program, successful candidates will be expected to teach introductory, major, and graduate-level classes in Geology. The candidate must have a Ph.D. in the Geosciences, a background in science communication, as well as an established record of publication commensurate with the applicant's career stage. Teaching experience is preferred. The candidate is also expected to complement our existing departmental strengths in low-temperature geochemistry, hydrogeology, geospatial analysis, petroleum geology, sedimentology, stratigraphy, and structural geology and interact with the general public and broader segments of the WSU STEM and Communication departments.
