The School of Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering (CBEE) within the College of Engineering (COE) at Oregon State University (OSU) is seeking to fill one full-time (1.00 FTE), tenure-track, 9-month assistant professor position in environmental engineering to support the teaching and research missions of the school.

The COE has committed to being a national model of inclusivity and collaboration as evidenced by, among other features, a community of faculty, students, and staff that is increasingly collaborative, diverse, and centered on student success. We seek applicants who will broaden our capacity to advance student success across individual identities, racial/ethnic categories and socioeconomic backgrounds.

CBEE provides formal education to undergraduate and graduate students, conducts public service activities, and performs sponsored and unsponsored research for the benefit of various entities, including the state of Oregon, private industry, and the federal government. The individual in this position is expected to perform a combination of duties related to teaching and advising in the school, advancing research and other scholarly activities, and performing service. A doctorate in environmental engineering, civil engineering, chemical engineering, or closely related field is required, as is a demonstrated commitment to engaging in diversity and inclusion initiatives. Duties will support the vision, mission and goals of the School, College and University, contributing to the College of Engineering targeted strategic area of clean water and the Clean and Sustainable Water Technology Initiative which recognizes the immediate need for innovative technologies, infrastructure, and management solutions that will ensure sustainable access to clean water for ecosystems and people worldwide.

Specific research areas of interest include, but are not limited to environmental technologies related to clean water; advanced processes and materials for water treatment and reuse; smart technologies (e.g. AI/ML/DL, Big Data/Data Science) for solving current challenges in drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, and groundwater. Additional specific research areas of interest include advanced modeling approaches for reaction and transport phenomena. These research areas may ultimately support sustainable strategies for managing water in a way that incorporates socioeconomic, life-cycle, and energy/water/food nexus considerations. The individual in this position will also be encouraged to contribute to the current priorities in CBEE in the areas of engineering education and social justice, diversity and inclusivity, and innovation and entrepreneurship.
