The Department of Integrative Biology at the University of South Florida (USF), Tampa celebrates diversity and inclusive excellence among our faculty. We seek a Marine/Coastal Biologist to fill a 9‐month, full-time and tenure‐earning, Assistant Professor position, with an appointment start date of August 7, 2024.
Research may be field‐ or lab‐based, on any system from microbes to macrofauna or macroflora, or communities. USF is located near diverse marine ecosystems both natural and impacted by human activities, in both tropical and subtropical climate zones, including mangroves, coastal, gulf, estuarine, and open ocean habitats; our location thus provides varied opportunities to study marine biology. Opportunities for collaboration include multiple faculty members in the department with expertise in marine biology, as well as collaborative opportunities with the College of Marine Science at the St. Petersburg campus. See http://usf.edu/IB for information on the Department. Candidates are expected to establish a strong, externally funded research program and to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Minimum qualifications to be considered for this position include a Ph.D. in Marine/Coastal Biology or a related field from an accredited institution, publication in refereed scientific journals, and experience teaching undergraduate students.
Preferred qualifications for this position include post‐doctoral training in a relevant field, procurement of research funding, and demonstration of success with teaching and working with a diverse population of students.
