Job Details

We are seeking applications for graduate studies as part of a multi-institutional seismology and geodynamic modeling study of the interaction of the Galapagos mantle plume and mid-ocean ridge spreading center.  The successful graduate applicant will be invited to join a seagoing expedition in summer 2024 to recover seismometers from the seafloor and then will engage in research using shear-wave splitting and/or high-performance computing to glean information about mantle convection and magma genesis.  Review of applications will begin December 1, 2023 and will continue until the position is filled. Contact  Prof. Garrett Apuzen-Ito, gito@hawaii.edu, Dept of Earth Sciences, University of Hawaiʻi.
