Open Rank Tenure-Track Position - Foundational GIS/GEOINT

Job Description and Primary Responsibilities 

The EAS Tenure-Track Position is in Foundational Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with expertise in Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) and is targeted to start Fall 2024. 

• Directly contribute to teaching GIS courses 

• Carry out GIS research and contribute to ongoing projects  

• Contribute to and expand research areas in EAS including geospatial science,  with topical areas including human geography, disasters, climate change, water security, and their intersections in defense, intelligence, and national security. This genre of geospatial research is pivotal in addressing Earth’s complex research questions due to their ability to wrangle and harness geospatial data needed to answer scientific lines of reasoning that are typical of Faculty in the EAS Department 

• With extensive knowledge of GIS, this hire will also be able to build relationships throughout the University community as other units incorporate GIS skills and tools into their projects 

• Develop multi-discipline convergent research areas 

Minimum Qualifications 

PhD in GIS, geography, geomatics, or related field   

Preferred Qualifications 

Research and teaching expertise in Geographic Information Systems, Geospatial Intelligence, Geoinformatics, and/or Geospatial Analytics 

Instructional Areas 

Location Science (GIS 2010), Spatial Analysis (GIS 2050), and Geospatial Analytics (GIS 4120/5120)
