We are seeking a recent Ph.D. graduate in economics, data science, or environmental science who is experienced working with large, geospatial datasets. The postdoc will be supervised by Dr. Hannah Druckenmiller and will be tasked on a project that aims to quantify the costs of sea level rise under various scenarios by combining geospatial data on human and natural systems with location-specific asset valuations. We aim to develop cost estimates at global scale and at high enough spatial granularity to inform local-level decision making. This project is part of a larger interdisciplinary effort that aims to better model Antarctic ocean-ice interactions to understand possible non-linearities and tipping points in ice sheet melting and sea level rise. We expect that about 50% of the postdoc’s time will be dedicated to this project and the remaining 50% will be spent on the postdoc’s own research and/or on other collaborative projects. 

 

The appointment is for 2 years beginning as early as August 1, 2024 and as late as January 1, 2025. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
