In this position you are expected to write a dissertation in a stimulating environment using the university's infrastructure. You will hold your own lectures, tutor students and participate in administration. 50% of the working time is reserved for the thesis. Key responsibilities: preparing a PhD thesis in physical geography or a related geoscience field with a focus on soils in a landscape context and/or natural hazards; Collaborating in planning and execution of the team’s scientific projects; Independent research and publication in the areas of soil geography, natural hazards and mechanistic modelling, leading to a cumulative promotion; further development of thematic and methodological aspects; independent teaching, administrative responsibilities. Required: finished M.Sc. or similar degree in Geographie or a related geoscience field with a focus on soil geography, geomorphology, landscape evolution and/or natural hazards. Professional competences: finished M.Sc. or similar degree in Geographie or a related geoscience field with a focus on soil geography, geomorphology, landscape evolution and/or natural hazards. Strong methodological background in (field-)soil science and geomorphology, as well as in geographic computation (R / C / GIS); Very good English skills. Willingness to teach in the Bachelor- and Master programs in Geography. Social abilities: we are looking for a team player with an open mind, and for a great communicator, including across disciplinary and cultural borders.

The minimum gross salary (stipulated by collective agreement) for 20 hours per week amounts to € 1.789 per month (14 times)*. The salary will be increased to € 2.683 for 30 hours per week once the dissertation agreement has been signed and sent to the Personnel Department. The salary will be higher if you have worked in a similar position before.
