Full/Associate/Assistant Professor in Ocean Remote Sensing/ Coastal Oceanography

The Department of Ocean Science and Technology (OST) of the Faculty of Science and Technology invites applications for the position of Full/Associate/Assistant Professor for the Centre for Regional Oceans (CRO) in the following disciplines:

• Ocean Remote Sensing
• Coastal Oceanography

The Department of Ocean Science and Technology (OST) offers quality postgraduate programmes. The emphasis of our programmes is directed to the areas of ocean environment and ecology, ocean circulation, coastal disasters, and ocean technology. Currently, OST has 11 academic staff. UM is among the top 1% in ESI (Essential Sciences Indicators) rankings in Engineering. The Engineering and Technology programme of UM is ranked in the 126–150 bracket in the THE World University Rankings.

OST houses cutting-edge facilities including the Ocean Remote Sensing and Data Perception Laboratory, Ocean Robotic Unmanned Systems Laboratory, and Ocean Disaster Prevention and Urban Public Safety Laboratory. Our on-campus Polar Orbit Satellite Ground Receiving Station enables ocean remoting sensing projects. CRO's laboratories - the Laboratory for Ocean Environmental Pollution Analysis and Assessment, Laboratory for Ocean Environmental Pollution Prevention and Remediation, Laboratory for Ocean Environmental Simulation and Modelling, and Laboratory for Ocean and Atmospheric Research support collaborative research. Successful candidates will utilize advanced facilities and technologies to conduct impactful research, driving the advancement of the field of ocean science and technology.

Qualifications

• Ocean Remote Sensing: Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in Ocean Science and Technology, Remote Sensing, or related areas. Preference will be given to candidates with research and teaching experience at the tertiary education level. (https://career.admo.um.edu.mo/fst_ost_ors_10_2023/)

Remuneration

A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP1,210,300 (approx. USD149,420) for the position of Full Professor, MOP1,019,200 (approx. USD125,830) for the position of Associate Professor and MOP828,100 (approximately USD102,230) for the position of Assistant Professor will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
