The University of South Alabama Department of Earth Sciences invites applications for a full-time (9-month), tenure-track Assistant Professor position focusing on Remote Sensing of the Environment, starting January 1, 2025. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Geography or a closely related field at the time of appointment, but ABD candidates near completion of the degree will be considered. Experience in undergraduate teaching and an active research agenda are expected. The candidate will assume responsibility for developing courses in Remote Sensing and possibly additional related courses while contributing to the university’s growing GIS program.

 

The University of South Alabama is located on a suburban campus in the city of Mobile, Alabama. The university features a highly diverse population of approximately 14,000 students. Mobile is a growing city of approximately 200,000 with a metro area of more than 600,000 people when including neighboring Baldwin County across Mobile Bay. The city features an excellent food and music scene along with numerous recreation opportunities.
