PhD and Postdoc positions in Ice-Sheet Hydrology and Ice-Ocean Interactions: Purdue University
The Meng Research Group (https://olivmeng.github.io/) in the Department of Civil Engineering at Purdue University is seeking one or two PhD students to join in the Fall of 2025, and one postdoc to join anytime in 2025. Successful candidates would explore physics of the cryosphere in a warming climate, in particular, hydrology of ice sheets and ice-ocean interactions. Through the interdisciplinary lens of porous media flows, granular mechanics, and geoscience, the Meng Research Group aims to bridge pore/grain-scale physics with observations of Earth’s surface processes by integrating cold room experiments, computational modeling, and deep learning.
Please contact Yue (Olivia) Meng (olivmeng@stanford.edu ) directly if interested in learning more about these opportunities. The PhD application process and requirements can be found here. The deadline for PhD application is December 1, 2024. Prospective postdocs are encouraged to apply to the prestigious Lillian Gilbreth Postdoctoral Fellowships at Purdue Engineering for the proposal "Bridging pore and grain-scale physics to the changing cryosphere". The deadline for the postdoc fellowship application is October 31, 2024. Please send me an email to discuss details if you are interested.
