The Department of Earth Sciences and Engineering (ESE) at the Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) invites applications for an open-rank tenured/tenure-track position in the general area of economic geology to begin in January or August 2025. Rank and tenure status will be commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an externally funded research program, and to teach courses in economic geology, geochemistry, mineralogy, and petrology at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Potential research collaboration opportunities in economic geology exist with various campus entities and within several university research centers, such as the recently established Critical Mineral Research Center. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in the geological science or a closely related field by the appointment start date. Preferred qualifications include a proven track record in research activities, evidenced by the quality and quantity of publications, presentations, and successful grantsmanship in economic geology or closely related fields. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to high-quality teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as a record of service contributions. Interested candidates should electronically submit their application consisting of: 1) a cover letter, 2) a current curriculum vitae or resume, 3) a research statement, 4) a teaching statement, and 5) complete contact information for at least four references to Missouri S&T’s Human Resources Office at: http://hr.mst.edu/careers/academic-employment/ (under “Academic Careers”) using Reference Number 00092041. Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and the review process will continue until the position is filled. For full consideration and early action, applicants must apply by October 1, 2024. For questions, please contact Dr. Jonathan Obrist-Farner, Search Committee Chair at obristj@mst.edu.
