We seek PhD students interested in participating in collaborative research on the late Cenozoic evolution of high-latitude North American river systems. This research focuses on reconstructing river catchment histories using geochemical sediment provenance approaches and aims to understand the tectonic and paleoclimatic forcings on catchment reorganizations. More broadly, this research aims to understand how changes in the clastic and dissolved loads of these river systems and changes in freshwater discharge may have impacted the Beaufort and Labrador Seas during the amplification of Northern Hemisphere glaciations.

The ideal student will have completed an MS in geosciences, geology, or a related field before starting the PhD program at Clemson University. Candidates must be motivated to research at the intersection of sedimentology and paleoclimatology. The dissemination of research findings is critical for publicly funded research, and thus, the ideal candidate will have superior written and verbal communication skills.

Interested potential PhD students should contact Prof. Alex Pullen before applying to the Graduate College. Please provide your CV and a short statement on your academic interests and research experiences. In addition, unofficial transcripts or a list of relevant undergraduate and graduate coursework would be helpful.
