Tenure Track Assistant Professor – Earth System Science

The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Central Michigan University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the broadly defined field of Earth System Science beginning in August 2025. We seek a colleague who applies quantitative and computational methods to environmental questions.

Methods and approaches should include one or more of the following:

  • Earth Systems Modeling
  • Environmental Data Science
  • Environmental Data Analytics for Decision Support
  • Applications of Machine Learning to the Environment

Required Qualifications:

  1. A D. degree in a relevant field. Exceptional ABD candidates will be considered if the degree will be completed by the start of appointment.

The selected candidate will contribute to the mission of the Department, College, and University through their teaching, research, and service. They will support Department programs through engaging and student-centered teaching, curricular development, and advising and mentoring of students, develop an externally funded research program that involves students, and actively contribute to service initiatives that advance the department, college, and university.

The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences is a part of the College of Science and Engineering at Central Michigan University. We offer B.S. degrees in Environmental Science, Meteorology, and Geology and participate in the interdisciplinary Earth and Ecosystem Sciences Ph.D. program.
