Role Description
This is a temporary on-site role for a GIS/Remote Sensing Technician at the National Park Service Great Lakes Inventory and Monitoring Network in Ashland, WI (https://www.nps.gov/im/glkn/index.htm). The Technician will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting geographic information to create maps and databases. Daily tasks include processing and managing spatial data, interpreting satellite and air photo imagery to validate land cover and land use changes to support research projects.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in GIS software, Remote Sensing tools, and Spatial Analysis methods
- Experience in collecting and interpreting geographic data
- Knowledge of cartography, database management, and data visualization
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geomatics, Environmental Science, or related field
- Experience with ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS, and other geospatial software
