Job Details

The PhD in Integrated Coastal Sciences at East Carolina University (ECU) is accepting applications for Fall 2025 enrollment.

The priority application deadline is February 15, 2025.

The ICS PhD is a dynamic, multidisciplinary, and research-intensive program designed to equip students with the skills and expertise needed to tackle complex challenges facing coastal systems.

Our students engage in cutting-edge research that integrates natural, social and health sciences, data science, and engineering, working across two campuses— East Carolina University in Greenville and the Coastal Studies Institute in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Our program prepares graduates for successful careers in a wide range of fields and sectors, including private industry, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and academic institutions. Our alumni are recognized leaders, making significant contributions to coastal management, policy, research, and education.

We strongly encourage prospective students to contact potential faculty advisors early in the application process to discuss research interests and potential projects. Note that students should secure an advisor before being officially admitted to the program.
