Director, Physical Oceanography Division
The Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory, NOAA’s research lab in Miami, FL,will be seeking a director of its Physical Oceanography Division (PhOD) in January 2025.
This position will be a supervisory physical scientist at the ZP-5 level (equivalent to a GS-15). It will be advertised for one week on USAJobs.gov; applicants must be U.S. Citizens and the position will require being located in South Florida.

PhOD consists of 18 federal employees and 32 cooperative institute and contract personnel observing and studying ocean dynamics, the physical drivers of ecosystem variability, and the impacts of ocean variability on marine resources. The division is heavily involved in many
aspects of the ocean observing system and are leaders in research on the ocean’s impacts on the earth system, the blue economy, and extreme weather events.
