Dear all,

I am recruiting two postdoctoral scholarships to work on Arctic ecosystem changes from a remote sensing perspective. One scholarship is ecology-oriented, focusing on vegetation changes or herbivory. The other scholarship will focus on permafrost degradation of palsas (permafrost peat plateaus). Both positions will suit candidates with an interest in UAV/drone data and AI. We have a drone laboratory and time series data that we want to leverage. Fieldwork is possible and would focus on the Abisko region, northern Sweden. A number of concrete project ideas within both topics exist, and we welcome the candidates’ own suggestions. The exact direction of the project will be decided with the candidate based on their background, merits, and interests of the candidate.

The positions are scholarships, but the compensation is competitive. The positions run over two years and are based at the Department of Ecology and Environmental Science (EMG) at Umeå University, Sweden.

The application deadline is 14 January 2025. Candidates are welcome to apply for both scholarships.
